The beautiful village of Hamezi is 11 kms from Sitia. It has an interesting Folk Museum. A remarkable elliptical Minoan building has been excavated near the village on the hill called "Souvlito Mouri", a dwelling which is considered a unique example of Minoan architecture in Crete.
