A settlement of about 50 people which has recently been brought into the Council of Sitia. The village has a long history. It used to be called Kanene and according to records this village was the feudal property of the Venetian Mark Salamone from whom the Greek national poet Dionyssus Solomou is descended. It used to belong to the community of Presos. It is 14 kms from Sitia on the road Piskokefalo - Maronia - Agios Spiridonas and is 360m above sea level.
