Picturesque fishing village on the north coast. The area was inhabited from the pre Minoan period up until the post Minoan. Excavations, starting in 1908 and still continuing today, have unearthed many valuable artefacts. The remains of a Minoan settlement can be seen on the small island of Agios Nikolaos opposite the village. You can visit the island by fishing boat, crossing the short stretch of water which separates the island from the mainland. Here you will always find fresh fish and clean seas.
